DTC bus helpline number, complaints and safety on Delhi buses
Updated · 5 min read · Figures from Delhi’s Open Transit Data, imported 18 July 2026

In an emergency on a Delhi bus, call 112. For harassment of women, 181 and the Delhi Police women’s helpline 1091 are free. To complain about a bus, note its registration number and route, then contact DTC or the transport department.
Numbers to save
- 112: national emergency number for police, fire and ambulance, free from any phone.
- 181: women’s helpline for women in distress.
- 1091: Delhi Police women’s helpline.
- 1098: Childline, for a child in danger or alone.
- 102: ambulance.
- 1800-11-8181: DTC’s toll-free Central Complaint Cell for bus complaints and enquiries, with 011-41400400 as its helpline, both listed in DTC’s citizen charter.
Complaints about a bus or crew
Rash driving, a bus that skipped a stop, overcharging, or misbehaviour by the crew can be reported to DTC through its helpline and website, and to the Delhi Government transport department. Give the date, time, route number, registration number and the stop. Cluster (orange) buses are part of the same public system; report them the same way and mention that it was a cluster bus. BusPe does not run buses and cannot take complaints, but each route page shows which operator runs a route.
Lost something on a bus?
Contact the operator quickly with the route number, direction, approximate time and where you got off. Items found on buses are usually handed in at the depot the bus belongs to. A police complaint helps for phones and documents.
Staying safe on the bus
- Wait at a lit, busy stop at night. The night buses guide lists routes with night services.
- Check the route’s stop list before boarding so you know where to get off, and share your trip with someone if you are travelling late.
- Keep valuables out of reach in crowded buses, especially near doors.
- Seats are reserved for women, senior citizens and people with disabilities; ask the conductor for help if they are occupied.
- If someone harasses you, move towards the conductor or driver and call 112 or 181.
