Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information the BusPe mobile application ("BusPe", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using BusPe you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information. BusPe works out of the box with an anonymous device account — no sign-up required. If you choose to sign in, we support Google sign-in or a passwordless one-time code sent to your email address or phone number. You may optionally add a display name, a profile photo, and a public username.
  • Location. With your permission, we use your device location to show buses and stops near you, plan journeys, and time your stop alarm. To alert you as your stop approaches, BusPe may use location in the background while a stop alarm or active trip is running. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings — the app still works for manual route search without it.
  • Trip activity. When you check in to a bus, we store that trip (route and timestamps) so you can see your trip history. While a trip is active, your device may send periodic GPS positions shown to other riders as anonymous live bus locations — these live positions are not linked to your identity for other users.
  • Rewards & games. We store the BusPe Points you earn and, if you choose one, your username. On any leaderboard, other players can see your username, avatar and points — never your email or phone. Points are a loyalty perk, not currency, and are not redeemable for cash.
  • Feedback. If you send feedback or a bug report, we store your message along with the app version and platform to help us fix issues.
  • Technical data. Basic device/app information such as app version and platform, used for diagnostics and to improve the app.
  • Advertising identifiers. BusPe shows ads via Google AdMob, which may access your device's advertising ID to serve and measure ads (see §4).

2. How we use your information

  • Provide core features: live buses, route search, journey planning, stop alarms, trip history and check-ins.
  • Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
  • Run rewards, points and leaderboards.
  • Respond to feedback and fix reported issues.
  • Show and measure advertising that keeps BusPe free.
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the app.

3. How we store and protect your data

BusPe uses Supabase (database, authentication and file storage) as its backend. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access is restricted by row-level security, so you can only read and write your own records. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Third-party services

  • Supabase — hosting, database, authentication and file storage.
  • Google AdMob — advertising. AdMob may collect and process data (including advertising identifiers) to serve and measure ads. See Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Google Play services — app distribution and device services.
  • Open Transit Data (OTD) Delhi — we consume Delhi's public transit and real-time bus feeds to power the map. We do not send your personal data to OTD.
  • OpenWeather — approximate weather for your map view, requested via our own server so your location is not shared directly with OpenWeather.

5. Data retention

We keep your personal data for as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, we permanently remove your account, profile, profile photo, saved buses, stop alarms, trip history, game points and username.

6. Your choices & account deletion

You can delete your account and all associated personal data directly in the app: open Profile → Settings → Delete Account and confirm. This is immediate and permanent.

7. Children

BusPe is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through an in-app notice.
